What is STRESS
STRESS IS BOTH A PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL RESPONSE. IT IS WHAT
WE FEEL WHEN WE ARE OVERWHELMED OR THREATENED. STRESS IS PREVALENT AND
IS FELT BY MANY PEOPLE. IT CAN HELP US STAY MOTIVATED AND DEAL WITH THE
PRESSURES OF DAILY LIFE IN BRIEF SPURTS. HOWEVER, STRESS CAN BECOME
DETRIMENTAL IF IT IS PERSISTENT. IT CAN HAVE AN IMPACT ON OUR EMOTIONS,
SELF-ESTEEM, RELATIONSHIPS, AND OVERALL FUNCTIONING.

CHRONIC STRESS IS DEFINED AS STRESS THAT APPEARS TO BE UNENDING AND UNAVOIDABLE, SUCH AS THE STRESS OF
A TERRIBLE MARRIAGE OR AN EXCEEDINGLY DEMANDING PROFESSION; CHRONIC STRESS CAN ALSO RESULT FROM
TRAUMATIC EVENTS AND CHILDHOOD TRAUMA.
EPISODIC ACUTE STRESS IS ACUTE STRESS THAT APPEARS TO BE PREVALENT AND A WAY OF LIFE, RESULTING IN
A LIFE OF CONTINUAL ANGUISH.
EUSTRESS -EUSTRESS IS ENERGETIC AND ENJOYABLE. IT IS A FORM OF GOOD STRESS THAT MAY KEEP YOU
MOTIVATED. IT IS RELATED WITH ADRENALINE SPIKES, SUCH AS WHILE SKIING OR RUSHING TO FULFILL A
DEADLINE.
Causes of STRESS
MANY FACTORS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO STRESS. YOU MAY BE STRESSED AS A RESULT OF A MAJOR EVENT
OR INCIDENT IN YOUR LIFE. OR IT MIGHT BE THE RESULT OF A SERIES OF LESSER EVENTS. THIS MAY MAKE
IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO RECOGNIZE AND EXPLAIN THE SOURCE OF YOUR STRESS TO OTHERS.
