2. Task breakdown
1. Vaccination and testing support: In order to promote COVID-19 vaccines and testing,
the Canadian Red Cross has offered assistance to the federal government of Canada
as well as to provincial, territorial, and Indigenous health authorities. The Canadian
Red Cross has offered clinical and non-clinical support to immunisation campaigns in
Manitoba, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, and Nunavut at the request of health
authorities, Indigenous communities, and Indigenous leaders. In British Columbia and
Ontario, the Red Cross continues to offer non-clinical immunisation assistance.
2. Friendly calls: The Friendly Calls programme aids in reducing the COVID-19
pandemic's increased feelings of isolation and loneliness. The programme matches a
skilled Red Cross volunteer with a grownup who may not have many family and social
ties or who believes they might use more social engagement. Regular phone calls can
foster meaningful interactions, friendships, and a reduction in loneliness and isolation.
The phone calls provide volunteers the chance to inquire about the caller's health and,
if necessary, link them with nearby and accessible community services.
3. Support in long term care homes: The Canadian Red Cross has been assisting in longterm care facilities throughout multiple provinces upon the request of the provincial
governments and with money provided by the Government of Canada through Public
Safety.
4. Red Cross teams have been collaborating with the employees and administration at
each institution to provide comfort and care services, including support with
fundamental daily living tasks, to suit the requirements of the residents. On demand,
the Red Cross has also offered its experience in epidemic prevention and control
(EPC) to assist with the safe adoption and application of EPC procedures.
