10. What is steroid myopathy
Steroid myopathy is usually an insidious disease process that causes
weakness mainly to the proximal muscles of the upper and lower limbs
and to the neck flexors, Weakness of proximal muscles of upper and
lower limbs and neck muscles. Corticosteroid-induced myopathy is the
most common drug-induced myopathy, with an incidence of 50% to
60% among those using corticosteroids for a prolonged period.
11. What are the Clinical benefits of steroid therapy on surgical
stress in patients with esophageal cancer
Morbidity rates including hyperbilirubinemia , anstomotic leakage and
liver dysfunction were lower in steroid group Inflammatory mediators,
body temperature, heart rate, and respiratory index after the surgical
procedure were significantly lower in the steroid group. Adverse effects
possibly caused by steroid therapy were not observed.
