Excel Assignment (1)
What is the assignment about?
This self-directed assignment teaches you how to use Excel. This
is in agreement with your programme directors. You will need to
use Excel in your group assignment and future courses.
This assignment receives no points. It is a "Pass or Fail"
assignment. You need to pass this assignment in order to pass
this course.
Complete the course called “Excel 2016 Advanced Eng”
(this is in English) or “Excel 2016 fortsättning”
(this is in Swedish) in Addskills.
To get started with your assignment, go to the Canvas page,
under Assignment, click “Excel Assignment” and read the
instructions.
10
Excel Assignment (2)
There are different parts in the excel course and each part has a
quiz. Once you complete all the quizzes and obtain a reasonable
amount of points, you receive a certificate of completion.
Upload the certificate of completion onto Canvas latest by
18 November, 17.00.
If you find the assignment difficult, then I urge you to also
complete the more basic course “Excel 2016 Basics Eng”
(in English) or “Excel 2016 grunder” (in Swedish).
If you have questions, please ask Kjel on Canvas.
11
Group Assignment (1)
On 10th November, 13.00-14.00, an information session will be held on
campus about this group assignment. Please attend!
•Part A (Company report plus Excel calculations in a separate excel sheet):
maximum 30 points with a minimum of 18 points required to pass this part.
Deadline: 5th December, 17:00 (upload your report and excel separately
on Canvas)
•Part B (Group oral presentation): maximum 10 points with a minimum
of 6 points required to pass this part. Deadline: 7th December 13:00 (upload
your power point slides on Canvas)
Failure to meet the assigned deadline results in a maximum grade of 60%
(=Pass or E) for the related part of the assignment if the part is assessed
as passed.
12
Group Assignment (2)
Part A (Company report plus Excel calculations in a separate excel sheet):
➢ A listed corporation will be assigned to you.
➢ You will be performing a financial statement analysis of your corporation.
➢ You will write a report and perform the analysis on Excel.
Part B (Group oral presentation):
❖ Each presentation slot is 2-hours and can have max 4 groups only.
❖ Presentations will be on campus. Mandatory attendance!
❖ Everyone in the group must speak.
❖ You have 3 weeks to complete your group assignment from 11th
November.
❖ If you FAIL the group report or presentation, you will resubmit in
February/present again in February. If you fail in February, you will have
to redo the assignment in autumn next year. There is no make-up
13
assignment to replace this.
Group Assignment (3)
Group assignment lab sessions (by Amin, Mohamed)
▪ The scheduled lab sessions are hands-on sessions to help you with your
group assignment. Attendance will be taken at labs.
▪ A tutor will be assigned to you. Your tutor will grade your report and
presentation.
▪ You can also ask for meetings with your tutor outside of the lab sessions
but make an appointment with them first.
▪ To use your time efficiently, ask your tutor specific questions. Do not ask
questions where the answers are known: "What is liquidity ratio?" "What
font size should I use in the written report?" "When is the deadline?“.
▪ Use your time wisely and respect your tutor’s time.
14
Exercise Seminars A, B, C, D
▪ You sign up for your preferred time slot. Time slots will be opened soon.
▪ This is not a group activity. You do not need to be with your group.
▪ A list of exercises will be given to you to try before each seminar. These
will be the exercises we will go through in the seminars.
▪ Solutions to all exercises will be uploaded after each seminar.
▪ Limited to 70 people in the room at any one time (except for Seminar D).
▪
▪
