If You Choose to Break a Rule
1st Time:
Verbal correction. Opportunity given to try again.
2nd Time:
Verbal correction, tally mark put into record.
3rd Time:
Time out given. Student must sit out of activity for an appropriate
length of time (1 minute per year of age). Tally mark added to record.
4th+ Time:
Time out given and tally mark added. Student must conference with
teacher, discuss behavior, and form an action plan. Note sent home.
Severe Disruption:
Sent to office/counselor.
Tally marks reset each week. Students begin every week with a clean slate!
Rewards
Praise (daily)
Positive notes home (random)
Whole-class music choice day (biweekly)
Movie and popcorn party for class (quarterly)
Various other positive perks (throughout the school year)
The joy of learning (each day of the school year)
