Today I will learn to add and subtract
integers
So that I can calculate sums
Adding Integers
Rules
The sum of two positive integers is positive
The sum of two negative integers is negative
The sum of a positive integer and a negative integer is negative ( if
negative is bigger)
Integers can be added using a number line
When adding/ subtracting integers on a number
line:
• adding a positive integer means moving to the right
• Subtracting a positive integer means moving to the left
