Grade 12 students must undergo work immersions,
depending on the track they had chosen. These work
immersions are key features of the Senior high school
curriculum. These will help students become familiar with
the workplace and apply their knowledge and skills in
authentic work environments. DepEd started to release
guidelines for work immersion under DO No. 30, s. 2017
that will guide teachers, students, and stakeholders.

Scouting and camping are ways for students to live in the
wilderness. This is one of the way the DepEd deliver the
lessons, in partnership with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
of the Philippines. Before the pandemic, they are held
regularly and adds on the extra-curricular activities of the
students. However, it was stopped because of the
pandemic. But recently, the Division of Cadiz City
conducted the 1st BSP WVR Regional Scout Cyber
Jamboree. This is to ensure that scouting never stops and to
develop, share and demonstrate different scouting skills
and knowledge among scouts and leaders. These scouting
skills and knowledge will greatly help them become
productive and law-abiding citizens.

Schools that have online classes received donations of
laptops and tablets. This is to help students, especially
those who doesn’t have gadgets, continue their education.
However, schools that don’t have online classes can’t
received laptops and tablets. They don’t have the privilege
of receiving these donations, even for the usage of
teachers.

Schools and DepEd held competitions that are new and
foreign to some students, especially in the far-flung areas.
For example, DepEd help a “Geoid Quiz and Earthistic
Poster making contest last October – November 2021. This
competition focused on Geodetic Engineering. Students
that are unfamiliar with the theme will have a hard time
competing. Even they studied and familiarized the theme,
it will still be a challenge to them.

Symbolic Interaction
SCHOOL PRACTICES MATRIX
Learning Evidence 1
Schools and DepEd held competitions and quiz bees on
almost all the subjects and fields. These competitions test
students and teachers on what they have learned and taught
and test their mental capacities. The interaction between
students and teachers/coach, affect the performance of the
students. When the expectation is low, students react by
accepting the expectations, and vice versa. For example, a
Division Asean Quiz bee was held last Dec. 15, 2021. The
division released a memo on the results and showed that
the winners won because of the expectations and
interaction between student and teacher.

Schools often conduct art competitions to showcase the
artistic side of students. These competitions hone the
potential and artistic skills of students to become better
artist. The Division of Cadiz City held an art contest, in
lined with the National Arts Month. The interaction
between students and teachers/coaches affects the students’
skills and artistic potential. The better the interaction and
expectations between them, the likely the student will
become a winner.

A sense of patriotism and
national pride
Before the pandemic stopped the face-to-face classes, the
school conducts a flag raising ceremony which involves
the singing of the Philippine National anthem every
Monday morning and flag lowering ceremony every Friday
afternoon. In the flag raising ceremony, there is a sequence
which involves the singing of the national anthem before
the invocation. The same sequence is used when
conducting official programs, however, the Panunumpa ng
Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas and the Panunumpa ng
Lingkod Bayan need not be recited. This can be seen in DO
50, S. 2015. Despite the pandemic, the sequence is still
used when conducting a virtual program or webinar.

Every month of August, the school conducts a “Buwan ng
Wika”, following the Proklamasyon Blg. 1041, s. 1997.
Buwan ng Wika is held every August 1 -31, and last year,
2021, DepEd conducted it with a theme, “Filipino at Mga
Katutubong Wika sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-iisip ng mga
Pilipino. It was released by DepEd through DepEd Memo
No. 046, s. 2021. The Division of Cadiz City adopted the
memo and held a virtual opening through DepEd memo
No. 496, s. 2021 and held a culminating activity for
division personnel through DepEd memo No. 520, s. 2021.

The value and habits of selfreflection and analysis
The school, alongside with the Division of Cadiz City,
regularly conducts an In-Service Training for teachers
(INSET) to improve the teaching-learning process and
foster professional collaborative spirit among school
personnel. It is a five-day engagement that involves
training and self-reflection. The three days are for selfimprovement and the remaining two days are for selfreflection. Programs are designed for the improvement of
teachers because most of the programs tackle on the least
learned skills of teachers. After the training, there are days
for self-reflection and enjoyment for the teachers to relax
and self-actualize.

Every teacher of the Department of Education should
submit a portfolio on the Individual Performance
Commitment and Review Forms (IPCRF) and ResultBased Performance Management System (RPMS). Inside
these portfolios are the Mode of Verification (MOVs) of
teachers that he/she had compiled throughout the school
year. These MOVs should be aligned to the different
indicators set by DepEd that embedded the PPST. These
indicators show where the teacher excels and where he/she
needs improvement. It serves as a tool achievement and for
self-improvement.
