FBS 114 Assignment
Plants, like all other living things, need food for their growth and development. Plants
require 16 essential elements (Uchida, 2000). The supply and absorption of chemical compounds
needed for growth and metabolism may be defined as nutrition and the chemical compounds
required by an organism termed nutrients (Rao, 2009). Macronutrients and micronutrients have
been found to be absolutely essential for plant growth and metabolism. However, when the supply
of an essential element becomes limited, the plant growth is retarded.
In your assignment, you are going to give the functions of the given essential elements
(not all) needed for plant growth. Also, you are going to give the negative effect of these elements
to plants when they are excessive and deficient.
