• Download the installer for MariaDB from https://downloads.mariadb.org/mariadb/
10.3.12/#file_type=msi Remember to select the 64-bit version if you have 64-bit
Windows installation and 32-bit otherwise.

• Start the installation by a double click on the installer (msi file).
• Press next and accept the license agreement
• The default installation options are sufficient for this course. Press next to continue
the installation.

• Insert a password for MariaDB’s root account. This is the account that you are going
to use to access MariaDB, so remember your password. If you are planing to use
character such æ,ø,å then check the option to have UTF-8 as the default character set.
The remote access for the root account is not required for this course, so this can be
left unchecked.
• The default settings are as the should be (it is ok if your buffer pool size differs from
the shown example of 2013), so click next to continue.
• If you want to submit anonymous data to the MariaDB foundation then check the
given option. Regardless of your choice press next to continue.

• Press the install button to install MariaDB. Remember to allow the installer to modify
the system.
• If you see this screen then MariaDB has been successfully installed.
