- I Bought Me A Cat (trace animal sounds with chopsticks)
- Raider’s March (watch, practice on individual sheets)

Practice Music Maps
- Sally Go Round the Sun
- Teach song
- Show example, ask them to practice with caps on
- Make Sally maps
- Have one or two students share what kinds of lines they drew!
SECOND LESSON
Review of Music Maps
- Lion map?
-Choose 3 types lines to use and write them on your paper
- Practice mapping the music, 1min tops
- Trace your own
-Trace your neighbors
- Trace as a class
- Keep talking about the lines throughout
- Show my music map of the piece
Review music map of Waltz
Have a student who feels comfortable lead the class
Follow with chopsticks
Talk about the different types of lines in the Waltz
Mapping Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
- Sing it all together, does everyone remember the words?
- Look at the chart, what kind of lines could you use?
- Choose three types of lines to work with and draw them on your paper
- Flip the paper over and think about how you would draw the lines, watch me while I sing, do it
twice, are the maps different? Yes! Everyone’s map will look different.
- Talk about the line in the music and line in art
- Form ABAB
-Will you draw an X for the beginning of the map? This time while we sing draw the lines you
want to represent the music, sing 4-5 times to give them time to draw
- Are your lines the same as the lines in the music?
