WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTED TO KNOW FOR THE 2022 EXAMINATION?

Read your PHS4200/PHS4021 Statistical Mechanics Lecture Notes.
It will be helpful to use the lecture by lecture breakdown (see the Table of Contents)
as a study guide.
Please note that only the following material will be examined:
Lecture 1:
Secs. 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.3, 1.4, 1.4.1, 1.4.2, Appendices A and B.
Lecture 2:
Secs. 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 2.3.3, Appendices A, B and C.
Lecture 3:
Secs. 3.1, 3.2, 3.2.1, 3.4, 3.4.1 and Appendix A.
Lecture 4:
Secs. 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.4.1, and 4.4.2
Lecture 5:
Secs. 5.1, 5.2, 5.2.1, 5.3, 5.4, 5.4.1, 5.4.2 and 5.4.3.
Lecture 6:
Not examinable.
Lecture 7:
Secs. 7.1, 7.2, 7.2.1, 7.3, 7.4, 7.4.1, 7.4.2, 7.5,
Lecture 8:
Secs. 8.1, 8.2, 8.2.1, 8.2.2, 8.2.3, 8.3, 8.3.1, 8.3.2 and 8.3.3.
Lecture 9:
Not examinable.

provided) and the exercises in the Lecture Notes.

Please note that the examination is Open Book. You may use any notes, books or
journal articles; however, internet access will not be available during the examination.
