Q1. The force that results from all the combined forces acting on the object is called the net force.
Calculate the net force acting on the box in each of the following cases. [8]
Be sure to include the direction of the net force (left or right).

Net force= 4-4=0N (No movement)
Net force = 3+3 = 6N (to the left)
Net force = 6 – 5= 1N (to the right)
Net force = 5 – 4=1N (to the left)
Q2. Look at the picture to the right. Both men are pushing on the refrigerator with a force of 100N.
What is the net force of the refrigerator? Is this force balanced or unbalanced? [3]
Net force = 100 -100= 0 N (No movement)
This is a balanced force because there is no resulting movement.
Q3. Complete the following force diagram:
1. Weight of the person acting down on the chair
Chair pushing upwards onto the person (reaction force)
Both arrows must be equal in length
1. The person pushing on the wall (to the right)
Reaction force of the wall (to the left)
Arrows should be equal in length
2. The weight of the person acting downwards
The reaction force of the ground
Arrows should be equal in length
