Lesson 1: Why we classify
Worksheet:
Characteristics of fire
All fire requires fuel and oxygen in order to burn. If a fire is
starved of these then it will die. In bushfires, burning embers
can move up to ten kilometres downwind and start new fires.
Fires can influence their surroundings by heating the air
around them, creating strong winds that can direct the fire to
move in a particular direction. The radiant heat and high levels
of carbon dioxide produced by fires can be equally as
dangerous to anyone caught in the area of a bush fire.
Underline (in the correct colour) the parts of the statement above that support the
characteristics of a living organism.
