Lab 5: Endocrine Turn In
Hypothesis
1. Besides the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid Axis, draw a different axis showing the
hormones involved and what type of feedback loop is used.
Experiment 1: Histology
Draw or put a picture of the pituitary gland that you took in lab (not from another
source), labeling which is the adenohypophysis or neurohypophysis. *Remember if the
picture isn’t clear enough for me to determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the thyroid gland that you took in lab (not from another source),
labeling: thyroid follicles, follicular cells, colloid, parafollicular cells. *Remember if the
picture isn’t clear enough for me to determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the parathyroid gland that you took in lab (not from another
source), label which part is the thyroid and which part is the parathyroid. *Remember if
the picture isn’t clear enough for me to determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the adrenal gland that you took in lab (not from another source),
labeling: adrenal capsule, adrenal cortex, zona glomerulosa, zona fasciculata, zona
reticularis, adrenal medulla. *Remember if the picture isn’t clear enough for me to
determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the pancreas that you took in lab (not from another source),
labeling: pancreatic islets and pancreatic acini. *Remember if the picture isn’t clear
enough for me to determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the testis that you took in lab (not from another source),
labeling: seminiferous tubule, spermatogonium, spermatocyte, spermatid, sperm,
sustentacular/Sertoli cell, interstitial cell/Leydig cell. *Remember if the picture isn’t clear
enough for me to determine what is what, draw it out!*
Draw or put a picture of the ovary that you took in lab (not from another source),
labeling: what type of follicle it is, granulosa cell, theca cell (if applicable), what type of
oocyte, antrum (if applicable), zona pellucidum (if applicable), corona radiata (if
applicable), cumulus oophorous (if applicable), corpus luteum (if applicable).
*Remember if the picture isn’t clear enough for me to determine what is what, draw it
out!*
