The learner should be able to demonstrate and understanding about
mitigation
The learner should be able to perform an understanding about mitigation
through applying the lesson in real-life situation.
The learners should be able to:
1. Define what is mitigation
2. Know the steps on how the Committee achieve the goals of enforcing a
mitigation program
3. Relating the importance of mitigation in real life.
Mitigation

Power Point Presentation
Cooperation among students to come up with an interactive online classroom
atmosphere
4A’s
Preliminary Activities:
2. Introduce the teacher’s name
3. Setting the online class rules
4. Attendance through screenshot/ printing
5. Recall the previous lessons
Recall the previous lesson: What are the important points that you have
learned from the previous lesson?
B. Establishing the purpose ACTIVITY/MOTIVATION
for the lesson
The teacher will present a video that will show about mitigation. After the
students watch the video, they will answer the following questions provided.
C. Discussing new concepts ANALYSIS
and practicing new skills.
The teacher will ask the following questions from the class:
1. What do you think is the video all about?
2. How important is mitigation in reducing the vulnerabilities in the
community?
3. What is your guess regarding to our lesson for today?

MITIGATION- actions taking to prevent or reduce the risk to life, property,
social and economic activities, and natural resources from natural hazardscentral Decade Initiative.
STEPS ON HOW THE COMMITTEE ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF ENFORCING A
MITIGATION PROGRAM
 Incorporate both structural and nonstructural mitigation measures
in new development.,
 Examine ways to reduce the vulnerability of existing structures,
 Undertake mitigation training with support from state and federal
governments.
A PROGRAM FOR ENHANCING NATION’S HAZARDS MITIGATION
CAPABILITIES SHOULD INCLUDE:
1. Protection of schools and hospitals- All new schools and hospitals should be
located and constructed to ensure that high hazards areas are avoided and
that special provisions are made to reduce the potential or damage by natural
hazards.
2. Adaption of nonstructural measures- Business and homes should
incorporate nonstructural mitigation measures to minimize injuries and
property damage from natural disasters.
3. Incorporation of mitigation into new development- Local jurisdictions
should ensure that new development is located, designed, and constructed to
withstand natural hazards.
4. Protection of cultural properties- Protections of libraries, monuments,
historic buildings, works of art, and other cultural resources should be
incorporated inti mitigation planning and action.
5. Protection of natural resources- Particularly valuable natural resources such
us endangered species of wildlife, fish, and plants should be identified in
mitigation plan and protection measures included in disaster response plans.
6. Government leadership of mitigation implementation- Government at all
levels should set an example by requiring that new facilities that it funds,
regulates, or leases be designed, built, and located in accordance with, modern
building codes and sound land-use practices.
7. Mitigation training- Training programs that focus on contemporary
challenges associated with implementing mitigation should be developed and
offered.
8. Hazard-specific research- Recent disasters have demonstrated the benefits
of mitigation efforts while pointing out the need for the research to improve
mitigation practice.
9. Overcoming resistance to mitigation- Barriers to the adoption of mitigation
measures need to be clearly identified and innovative strategies developed to
overcome resistance.
E. Finding practical
operations of concepts
and skills in daily living.
F. Evaluating Learning
APPLICATION
Teacher will ask randomly from the students to share their ideas that would
employ their learnings in real-life scenario:
Guide Questions:
 What are the mitigation programs created in your local community
to reduce the risk that are made by the hazards?
DIRECTION: Read and analyze the following questions given. Write the
answers that are being asked.
______1. These are the actions taking to prevent or reduce the risk to life,
property, social and economic activities, and natural resources from natural
hazards.
______2. It incorporates nonstructural mitigation measures to minimize
injuries and property damage from natural disasters.
______3. It is an adoption of mitigation measures that needs to be clearly
identified and innovative strategies developed to overcome resistance.
______4. These demonstrated the benefits of mitigation efforts while pointing
out the need for the research to improve mitigation practice.
______5. It focuses on contemporary challenges associated with

in mitigation plan and protection measures included in disaster response
plans.
______8. Monuments, historic buildings, works of art, and other cultural
resources should be incorporated inti mitigation planning and action.
______9. It should ensure that new development is located, designed, and
constructed to withstand natural hazards.
______10. Step that enforces mitigation program wherein one should
undertake a mitigation training.
ASSIGNMENT: Create your own mitigation plan that is applicable in your
school premise.
