Dewey decimal
system
The Dewey Decimal System,
invented by Melvil Dewey, is used
to organize non-fiction books. All
knowledge is divided into ten
main areas. A number from
000 to 999 is given to each area
of knowledge, and then topics
are further ordered within
these areas.
