Nick Nowell The Telephone and the Light Bulb One of the most important inventions in my opinion was the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell is often credited with this invention. The telephone received its patent in 1876 on march 7. At first, Bell thought he could transmit a voice over wire. He began working on this and eventually got it to be able to send one message. Over the course of 10 years, Bell finally got his working telephone. This invention greatly impacted businesses and how they got information to and throughout the companies. Even today, businesses and regular people depend on telephones to get information quickly to others. Another important invention during this time was the light bulb. Thomas Edison is usually credited with the invention of the light bulb. Edison sent in the patent for the light bulb in 1878 but sent in another in 1879. Edison began with developing an incandescent lamp. This in turn led to him wanting to condense it into what is now known as the light bulb. This invention revolutionized America and how long work days could now be. The light bulb meant that workers could now work until after dark which resulted in more work being done. This eventually led to faster progress of future inventions. Today, the light bulb is in every building and place you go.
