 You will research, write a summary, create a
powerpoint and present the information
based on your civilization or city state to the
class in groups of 2-4
 The assignment should cover the 7 parts of a
civilization:
 Language
Overview
 Religion
 Government
 Cities
 Jobs specialization
 Technology
 Social hierarchy


 Babylon
 Mayans
City States or
Civilizations to
pick from.
You will pick 1
 Rome
 Ancient Isreal
 Indus Valley (India)
 Ancient Palestine
 Ancient China (a specific dynasty)
 The idea of this project is so that
everyone in the class starts to practice
their writing, speaking, research and
application skills.
Purpose
 Its also to teach the class about different
civilizations and city states and and their
creation stories to get a better idea about
the differences and similarities that
ancient civilizations had.
 You must use at least 2-3 academic
sources.
 You must hand in a works cited list with
your project, APA format.
Part 1: Research
 You should have in text citations in your
summary.
 Mark out of 4 (Failure to hand in the
works cited list will result in a final
mark of zero for the whole project)
 Please write in Times New Romans Font
 Please make your font 12 size
 Please double space your typing
 Please write in full paragraphs seperating
Information
about setting up
a summary
the different events of the story. Please put a
one line space between your paragraphs
and indent the first line of your paragraphs
 300-400 words for your summary, not
including the citation list
 A different page for your citation list (you
MUST have one or your whole project will
receive a 0)
 The Powerpoint should be at least 8 slides
in length.
 You should have 1 slide per civilization
part along with a title slide.
Part 2:
Powerpoint
 You should have pictures related to your
topic and all pictures should have a
citation in the works cited list.
 It should be neat and lay out the key
information from your summary.
 Mark out of 4
 The Presentation must be 3-5 minutes
long.
 Every person in the group must talk for at
least 1.5 minutes.
Part 3: Oral
Presentation
 You must look at the class when
presenting and it must be clear you are
prepared.
 You must speak in a loud and clear voice
so everyone can hear you.
