Pollution:
• The word pollution comes from the Latin ‘polluere’ that simply means
contamination. Hence, in layman terms, pollution is something that
contaminates the environment.
• The presence of harmful substances in the air, land, and water, which
can have an adverse effect on living beings and on the environment is
pollution.
• A pollutant is a substance that is present in concentrations that may
harm organisms (humans, plants and animals) or exceed an
environmental quality standard.
