STATE BOARD REPORT 2020

 Oral Report: 1 minute “commercial” presented February 12-13
EXTRA CREDIT
 Souvenir: Design and make a souvenir to represent your state/places you visited. Effort required
for credit. Plan your souvenir design and have it approved by Mr. Thompson before you begin.
Instructions: (these do not replace the detailed directions you will receive in class)
1. Design a 5 day trip by car visiting different cities in your state. Highlight your full-size road map
showing the car route of your trip. The entire map must show on your board.
2. You must visit a minimum of 5 historical/educational points of interest. You have $750 for spending
for meals and lodging. (You DO NOT need to keep track of money spent on anything else.) For each of
the 5 days you must complete a diary entry including places/events you visited and where you ate and
slept. (Minimum 2 paragraphs per day.) You will also tabulate the cost of the day and keep a daily
balance of your money in your diary. (see sample on back of this page.)
3. On the front of your POSTER BOARD** (approx. 28” x 22”), mount your highlighted state map and five
photos* of the places you visited. Assemble your diary and attach it to the front of the state board.
Design on the computer and print a title for the front of your project board, including your name and
room number. Everything must be on the front of your 28” x 22” board (or it won’t count).
4. Your Digital State Scrapbook (technology project completed at school) will be shared in class and
online with your teacher for scoring. use: www.netstate.com/states
5. Give a 1 minute commercial convincing people to take your “trip.” Details will be covered in class.

**NO FOAM BOARDS. USE 28” x 22” POSTER BOARD. DO NOT USE TAPE.
Hints:
•See Mr. Thompson concerning cutting/folding your map to fit your board. Most of your map must be
flat and visible on your board.
•Trip diary pages may be handwritten on the diary handouts or typed and printed from your computer
using the correct format, as given in the example.
