1) Clock in ‘Cinderella’ – exaggerated to show its IMPORTANCE to the plot & events – [& the spiral
staircase is on wheels so can be moved across the set and locked in place]
2) Cake in Matthew Bourne’s ‘Nutcracker’: - huge AND on a slant – suggesting fantasy world is
unbalanced… useful design idea for Witch’s Cottage in Kneehigh ‘Hansel & Gretel’ – large furniture/
oven/ ingredients etc…
