Evidence in the Fossil Record
With every new fossil discovery, our understanding of the environment in a particular time
becomes richer.
The fossil record helps paleontologists, archaeologists, and geologists place important events
and species in the appropriate geologic era.
It provides important historical data for analyzing the long-term ecological impacts. The rock
sequences prove that the bottom layers are older than the top layers. Therefore, some
discovered fossils can be dated according to the strata, a distinct layer of rock, that they are
found in.
IN Class, you will enjoy making your own yummy fossil edible sample and write your lab
report after.
