BOOK REVIEW
“Secrets of Divine Love” draws upon spiritual secrets of the Qur'an, ancient
mystical poetry, and stories from the world's greatest prophets and spiritual
masters to help you reignite your faith, overcome your doubts, and deepen your
connection with God. This book helps you to develop awareness needed to
discern and overcome your negative inner critic that prevents you from
experiencing God's all-encompassing love, by the use of scientific evidence,
practical exercises, and guided meditations. This book speaks to our very fears
and insecurities, it offers a reassuring hug and wills us to keep going, to unveil
the layers shielding our eyes from Allah’s love and mercy: “We must be honest
with how we feel, because we cannot receive God’s deep healing if we
continuously avoid facing our pain.”
The book begins with an introduction in which the author, A Helwa, explains
her reasons for writing this book as follows: “I pray these words awaken your
heart to fall deeper in love with Allah…[the book is] written for the longing
heart, for the one who is searching for something they have not been able to
find.” From the depths of the writing we can understand that the Author
firmly believes that every single person on Earth is deeply loved by the Divine.
Her unique way of writing has inspired hundreds and thousands of readers
through this passionate, poetic, and love-based approach to spirituality.
The passages in this book serve as a compass and guiding light that returns
you to the source of divine peace and surrender. Through the principles and
practices of Islam, you will learn how to unlock your spiritual potential and
unveil your divine purpose. “Secrets of Divine Love” use a rational, yet heartbased approach towards the Qur'an that not only enlightens the mind, but
inspires the soul towards deeper intimacy with God. The book explores our
roles as human beings, not through our eyes but through the eyes of the Creator.
Studded with beautiful gems and words of wisdom, it is hard to deny the
overwhelming feeling of love and belonging. The author asks us to be open and
to forgive others “not because someone deserves it, but because our hearts
deserve peace…as lovers of God we are called to reflect the divine loving
qualities upon all people without discrimination.” This includes allowing
others to make mistakes as we do, and aspire ourselves to move towards our
perfection.
I really enjoyed this book which offered a needed positive outlook. It taught me
more about accepting and living with differences (faith), It reminds me of the
divine love of God and the pure love our Prophet have towards his followers, it
taught me to know myself more, free myself from expectations towards
everyone, and the most important thing is it strengthens my faith.
