Peer Revision Form for Rhetorical Analysis
Precis
Does the precis follow the correct format? If not, explain.
Does the 1st sentence address all of the necessary info.? (speaker, audience, message,
occasion)
Does the 2nd sentence paraphrase specific claims the write makes to support the overall
message?
Does the 3rd sentence address obstacles the writer will face given the intended audience?
Does the 4th sentence list 2 specific rhetorical strategies the speaker uses that ties into how
they will overcome the obstacles listed and ultimately convey the message of the text? Is there
an effective transition to start the sentence? Do they state the strategy as ethos, pathos, or
logos? (If so, make a note for them to change that).
Are there any personal pronouns used (we/us, etc)? If so, let your partner know to eliminate
them.
Body Paragraphs
Go through your partner’s essay and highlight their implementation of the floaties. If there is one
that you feel was not addressed, make a note of it.
Are the strategies analyzed specific and clear?
Is it clear how the strategies support the claim and overall message of the text?
Is there anything that lacks explanation or is difficult to follow?
Are there any words your partner used that need to be revised for clarity?
Has your partner demonstrated an understanding of the rhetorical situation of the writer?
What might you change about the body paragraphs to improve them?
