Coordinated by Marco Graniel, Dual Language Social
Studies teacher for grades 6-8

2-3 Spanish language classes consisting of a reading and
writing course, social studies, and language and culture
course
•
Our enrollment has increased by 30% from the previous
year
•
90 % of last year's 8th grade students passed the AP Spanish
exam for college credit
•
By the end of middle school, students may leave with up to
6 high school credits and college foreign language credit
(number determined by admitting university/college)

de Mexico, Campeche, Mexico
and Los Angeles, California

I enjoy playing music, sports
and travelling with my wife
All courses in the Dual Language program are taught
primarily in Spanish. There is minimal use of English in
order to clarify concepts.

AP Exam at the end of the school
year.

APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Apply to the Meyerland Dual Language Program on the School Choice
website https://hisdchoice.com/login
*Please submit all requested forms/documentation
2. Schedule a virtual interview with Mr. Graniel (link for Sign Up Genius
will be sent out via e-mail a week before proficiency interviews begin)
ACCEPTANCE PROCESS
If you are accepted to the Meyerland Dual Language Program
1.
Go to the School Choice website and accept your seat
2.
Sign the Dual Language Agreement that outlines student expectations for
the Dual Language program
3.
Complete student registration for Meyerland (registration dates will be
sent out via a callout and email)
