Stories
DIRECTIONS: Write a suspense story using the following steps.
1. Take a group of characters (5 or more) who are strangers and cram them into an elevator.
2. Use a mix of people who are experiencing personal problems, including someone with a
psychological problem or anger issue. Include various genders and ages.
3. Now make the elevator stop between floors.
4. If more complications are needed, have the vent fan stop working and the lights go out.
5. Add a time deadline by having a medical emergency.
Example Story Structure:
Exposition: The back story of how these people met in an elevator
Rising Action: Begins when the elevator stops and the conflict starts
Climax: Occurs when the person with the psychological problem/anger issue explodes
Falling Action: Takes place when the people realize help is on the way
Resolution: Transpires when the elevator doors open…or they all fall to their doom!
