Fara Hicks created list of math at risk
students based on past EOCT failures
and distributed to current math teachers
and department chair.

to be used for student
review/remediation.

POI committee has been established and
meets monthly to review specific student
situations and create POI processes and
procedures. Emily Keag presented “POI

Learning” on 1/5/09 to faculty. Include
Brad Williford from MHS to ensure

Carole Hicks provided list of all subgroup students to all faculty. Emily Keag
distributes DEES sub-group student
information and they create action plans
based on IEPs and teaching strategies.
Extended advisements for test prep.
Counselors will gather course history
for each student in sub-group and
assess the need for specific remediation
by subject area.
Reading in the Content Areas training
by Fara Hicks will be held on 2/5 at the
main campus during planning periods
and on 2/12 at the academy during
planning periods.
2nd and 3rd sessions on “understanding
poverty” are scheduled with Sally
Echols. Understanding Poverty book
study is also available.
Emily Keag will distribute EOCT data
for DEES students so teachers can
engage in a reflective activity to
examine and compare teaching
strategies and achievement data from
last year to this year.
June Reid will implement an “after the
tutoring, tutoring” to teach
organizational skills, out of the box
teaching strategies to reach at risk
students.
Monitoring: Historical achievement of at
risk students, OAS summary reports,
POI meetings, and student participation
in academy of reading and math.

Nathan Franklin will continue to meet
with RESA reps along with Kaycie
Maddox to investigate what other
schools are doing to improve student
achievement in Math 1 and also
scheduling ideas for Math 2.

work, student assessment scores, and
after school tutoring attendance logs.
