1. Describe how different organisms, including phytoplankton and zooplankton, feed
and extract nutrients.
- Phytoplankton contain chlorophyll which allows them to convert sunlight into
energy.
- During the process of photosynthesis, phytoplankton use energy from sunlight to
combine water and carbon dioxide to form glucose, which they store to use as
nutrients.
- Zooplankton feeds on phytoplankton.

2. Explain how gills extract oxygen from the water, include a diagram.
As the fish opens its mouth, the water flows through its gills and picks up the oxygen
dissolved in the water.

3. Research and explain how corals are made of 2 organisms and the feeding
relationship between them.
The two organisms that makeup coral are zooxanthellae and algae.
4. Why is the information gained from the previous three questions important if we
want to save the Great Barrier Reef?
The questions are important if we want to save The Great barrier Reef as we know
how the bodies of the biotic creatures work and how they will be affected.
