Tutorial 7: Clinical Imaging
Clinical imaging can potentially be used during the drug development process.
Investigate what aspects of your assignment could be addressed using
imaging technologies.
Also choose at least one of the other assignments for which you think imaging
technologies could be of value:
1) Osteoporosis: Denosumab (Rank antagonist)
2) Antivirals / HIV: Elvitegravir/Vitekta (Integrase inhibitor)
3) Cancer: Iressa / Gefitinib (GFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor)
4) Insomnia: Suvorexant (Orexin receptor antagonist)
5) Pulmonary arterial hypertension: Opsumit/Macitentan (Endothelin
receptor antagonist)
6) Epilepsy: Retigabine (KCNQ channel opener)
7) Diabetes type II: Jardiance/Empagliflozin (SGLT2 inhibitor)
8) Thrombosis / Embolism: Apixaban/Eliquis (Factor Xa inhibitor)
9) Pain: Ziconotide (CaV channel blocker)
10) Prostate cancer: Firmagon (GnRH antagonist)
Each group will present their ideas ad hoc (on whiteboard; app. 10 minutes) in
the second half of the workshop.
