Some important observations about John the Apostle
1. 90% of the material in the Gospel is outside the other three Gospel records (Matthew, Mark, Luke)
2. John’s Purpose in writing the Gospel account is very clear, “Now Jesus did many other signs in the
presence of his disciples, which are not written this book. But these are written so that you may come
to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in
his name.” John 20:30-31 NRSV
3. He is the second most proflict author of the New Testatment. Paul 13 books, John 5 books.
4. He is mentioned in Acts three times:
a. Acts 3:1
