THE RON CLARK’S STORY
The subject of this film was about an idealist teacher, how he coped with a tough class. I think it was
both highly inspirational and emotional. This film, which makes me feel mixed feelings, is based on a true
success story. Thanks to teacher Ron Clark, nearly thirty students who have problems in their behavior
and life have achieved remarkable and even proven results in their education. Assure modeling is
mentioned in the film.
Firstly, Ron Clark wanted to meet the families of the students before the first day of the class with
the many teachers giving up. He aimed to understand the role of students in their own lives and the
attitudes of parents towards students' educational life. At the end of these encounters, he would be able
to determine the course of the course with the information obtained. Eventually, unfortunately, most
parents reacted against this meeting, but the teacher did not give up and continued to analyze the
students as best as he could. He was able to get to know them through his inferences from his behavior
in class and in pause times.
Secondly, Ron Clark believed that order was necessary for good classroom functioning. He set up five
rules for this. An example of these rules was that students should line up on their way to the cafeteria.
He also cooperated with the servants at the school. For example, a student went to the cafeteria without
going into the cafeteria queue. The cafeteria officer said, “You're Mr. Clark's class, no food for you .”.In
this way, she turned him down. The student came to Mr. Clark and said that he wanted to hurry that he
was very hungry, but Ron Clark stressed once more that the student had to queue to eat and start
waiting for his turn there. The student also had to follow this rule to eat. From this example, we can see
that Ron Clark is a teacher-centered and dominant class leader.
Third, the teacher used different methods and materials to draw the attention of the students. To
find the appropriate teaching method by trial and error method. For example, to explain the grammar
lesson, he put a lot of chocolate milk on the table and told the students:” Today we will learn grammar. If
you listen quietly. I'm gonna drink chocolate milk every 15 seconds. If you can do that, you will see I
throw up. Deal?" His aim was to both entertain and attract attention. A student who did not listen to the
lecture gave the correct answer to the question Mr. Clark asked. It was an example of success in
attracting students' attention.
Another step is to encourage students to participate in courses. Each student had to be involved in
the lesson because he believed that the students in that class had high potential and that each of them
would be very successful in the exam and go to good secondary schools. For example, a student who
made money by stealing something and betting had to take 3 special studies with him as a punishment.
In their last study, Mr.Clark tried to apply the square root, which is one of the basic subjects of
mathematics, by playing a card game to him.
Lastly, shortly before the exam, the teacher becomes apical pneumonia and goes to the doctor. She
said to Mr. Clark: "I'm sending you home, but you need to get out of bed for 2 weeks.". The teacher, who
does not want to let his students down because he has little time left for the exam, continues to come
and lecture despite his illness. During the lesson, his condition deteriorates and he stays in the hospital
for a while. He continued to explain the lesson to his friend by making his video for 4 hours a day. The
students were able to follow the lessons with the help of television in the classroom.
In short, the teacher has never lost confidence in the students. This attitude of the teacher changed
the lives of all students and provided the families' belief in them and offered better opportunities. All
students have achieved success by going to very good secondary schools. In this film, the assure model is
well processed and is a good example for us as teachers of the next generation.
