1. List and describe some of the major areas of biotechnology.
• Transgenic Biotechnology = the splicing of DNA from one species to
another
• Reproductive Cloning = the production of mammals through
cloning
• Cell Reprogramming = the production of needed cell types through
the reprogramming of genomes
• Forensic Biotechnology = The use of biotechnology to stablish
identities of criminals/crime victims and so forth
2. What is the difference between therapeutic and reproductive cloning?
Reproductive cloning is making a complete genetic copy of a mammal
Therapeutic cloning would be more likely used for humans and would be
restricted to creation of organ replacement or limb replacement.
3. What is SCNT? Describe how biotechnologists perform it. Diagram it here.
Somatic cell nuclear transfer = a means of cloning mammals through
fusion of one somatic with an egg cell whose nucleus has been removed.

With Restriction enzymes it allows for cutting DNA at a predictable
location and PCR makes replication of DNA efficient.

making mutant species on purpose, lets call it playing god.
