Drugs have a wide range of effects. You will be researching and creating a Public Service
Announcement to educate youth of America on these effects. You may choose from the
following drug classifications:
1. Narcotics (Vicodin, Hydracodin, etc….)
2. Sedatives (Ambien, propopol, etc….)
3. Stimulants (nicotine, amphetamines, cocaine, etc…)
4. Hallucinogens (MDMA-ecstacy, LSD, heroine, etc….)
5. Cannabis (marijuana)
6. Alcohol (also considered a depressant)
Research Assignment:
1. Research the assigned drug you have chosen
2. You must create a public service announcement that will educate the youth of our country
in the dangers of drugs and their effects.
3. Your pamphlet/booklet/powerpoint/video must include the following:
a. The basic information regarding the drug assigned to you
i. You must also include the classification your drug falls under and why it
fits into that category
b. A detailed description of the drug
i. Include ingredients, where it can be found, popularity, different forms it
can be found in, etc….
c. Both the short and long term effects of the drug on the human body and its psyche
i. Include specific examples…. SHOW visual examples
d. How the drug is used (i.e. inhaled, snorted, “shot-up”, etc….)
e. The negative aspects this drug can bring into a person’s life
f. A personal account of your feelings on this particular drug
g. Important contact information regarding help and detox, information that can be
found here in the Valley.
