Research Project on an aspect of
Ancient Greek culture
1. Choose a Greek god or goddess, Olympics or Temple you are
interested in learning more about.
2. Choose your format: poster, power point (must be submitted in
CHROME) or document.
Note: If typing, your report should be about 1 page typed and double spaced.
(To doubles space go to “Format”, “paragraph” find line spacing and change it
to “Double spacing”). Check with me before using different fonts that the
size is readable.
Make sure you have a title, your name and class.
1) Introduction:
Some questions to guide you:
What did the ancient Greeks believe about their gods/goddess?
What need did gods/goddesses fulfill for the ancient Greeks?
Why did you choose this particular god or goddess?
When did the ancient Olympics take place? What events were there? How
often were they held? What interested you about the ancient games?
Why did ancient Greeks build temples? Where were they located and why?
What interested you about ancient buildings?
2) Main Body:
What is this god/goddess responsible for? (war, love, seasons, etc)
What does this god/goddess look like? (physical appearance)
Does this god/goddess have any extraordinary powers?
Are there myths that tell about this god/goddess and if so what do they
explain about them?
What was the purpose of the ancient Olympic games? What did the Greeks
believe about them? Describe some of the events. Who participated? How
long did the games last for? What are some differences/similarities
between the ancient Olympics and the modern Olympics?
What materials were used for building temples? Why did they build them?
What was the purpose/what did they do there? How long did it take to build
them? What are some famous temples? Do they still exist today?
3) Conclusion:
What have you learned about this god/goddess?
What did you find interesting about them?
What did you learn about the Olympic games? What was most interesting to
you?
What did you learn about temples? What was most interesting to you?
4) Be sure to include a bibliography with your report that details where you
got your information from.
5) You should have a colored picture (either drawn or inserted from a
website) Be sure to credit where the picture came from!
