Dear Sir/ Madam,
RE: Executive Assistant
Please consider my application for your position, as I have recently graduated and am a
quick learner and hardworking. I understand the importance of providing a high-quality
service and being personable. I am available to start work immediately.
My combined honours degree in Economics and Human Geography has developed many
skills that are pertinent to this role. I had to be very focused, organised and adaptable to
meet the differing objectives and often clashing deadlines of the two faculties. Selfmotivation and excellent time management skills were both essential to manage my
workload. I am also numerate, having studied statistics during both my Maths A-level and
Undergraduate Economics modules. I am highly computer literate and have experience of
data processing and managing large quantities of documents.
I thoroughly enjoy working within a team, contributing ideas as well as ensuring inclusivity
since I am comfortable working with a range of ages. I work efficiently independently when
required and am motivated to complete tasks to a high standard. Among my main skills are
time management and organisation. These have been developed significantly as my
previous roles at University (leading and organising events) have enhanced my ability to
work effectively and independently with a strong emphasis on accuracy and detail. These
roles of events organisation have developed my ability to coordinate logistical planning and
manage paperwork. I am able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
I am friendly and approachable, with very strong verbal and written communication skills.
This has been an important attribute in all the jobs and volunteering roles that I have
undertaken. I am a volunteer with Deafblind UK, providing telephone support and advice to
vulnerable members. This role has strengthened my listening skills and ability to
comprehend information, essential skills for this job. I must work within the charity’s
governance framework and engage with people of different backgrounds.
I have also completed my Prince2 project management qualification successfully, at both
foundation and practitioner level. This has increased my awareness of the personal planning
and organisation required to deliver quality projects at pace, following the principles, themes
and processes. I believe the understanding of managerial roles is useful to work efficiently
and proactively within a large team.
Thank you for taking the time to read my C.V. and covering letter. I look forward to hearing
from you in the near future.
Yours faithfully,
Sophie Heywood
