alongside relevant definitions of terms such as Chromatin and Chromosome- what they are, what they do in the
cell etc.). All Student involved in the work MUST appear on their video though the videos can be made ‘Private’
to avoid sharing with the public if needed. Alternatively, they can be submitted via Classroom.
Criteria and Assessment Rubrics
CRITERION A: Knowledge and Understanding
The student is able to: 1. describe scientific knowledge
Level
Descriptor
0
The student failed to achieve any of the descriptors below
1-2
i.
i. recalls scientific knowledge about Mitosis and Cell division. The
student provides some relevant information, but this is generally
incomplete and does not provide the viewer with a working knowledge
of the process of mitosis or related concepts. The quality of the
production appears low overall.
3-4
ii.
i. states scientific knowledge about about Mitosis and Cell division.
The presentation provides a broad overview of the process but does not
go into detail on the steps of the process. The student shows little attempt
to provide more contextual information regarding mitosis or related
concepts. Overall quality is mid-range.
5-6
iii.
outlines scientific knowledge about about Mitosis and Cell division. The
level of detail is generally complete but may be missing some key
aspects. Overall quality of the production is high.
7-8
iv.
describes scientific knowledge about about all stages of Mitosis and Cell
division. The student provides a clear and coherent description of the
entire process and other related concepts such as the cell cycle.
Presentation shows a lot of effort on behalf of the students and is of a
consistently high quality.
