GOALS ARE FOR
SETTING A DIRECTION
SYSTEMS ARE FOR
MAKING PROGRESS
WHAT'S OUR SYSTEM?
#1
Winners and losers have the same goal.
We assume ambitions goals led to success
Britian always wanted to win (goal)
It wasn't until they implemented a system of continuous small
improvements that they achieved a different outcome
#2
Achieving a goal is only a momentary change.
Reaching a goal only changes your life for the moment
We donn't need to change our results. We need to change out systems
Fix the inputs and the outputs will fix themselves.
#3
Goals restrict happiness
We continually put off happiness until we reach it. What about all the
other accomplishments you have while trying to reach a goal?
Either you win = happy or you lose = depressed
#4
Goals are at odds with long-term progress
"yo-yo" effect. Ex: marathon runners
The purpose of setting goals is to win the game
The purpose of building systems is to continue to be your best
problems
with goals

OF YOUR GOALS. YOU FALL TO
THE LEVEL OF YOUR SYSTEMS.
