WHAT SIZE TO CHOOSE FOR THE BRA PATTERN
First step is to take body measurement as presented on this page. You will have to values B and C.
Note: these bras are for standard breast shape and volume. If you know to have a particular shape, bare in
mind, that my bra pattern is a starting point. You will have to adapt the pattern according to your shape.
Special articles on breast shapes, finding the size and the breast shape and pattern adjustments will be
provided.
Second step is to look in the tables from Bra size charts these two values and find the
corresponding bra size for my pattern.
Note: if you have measured in inches, please convert to cm. Google can convert this in one step, just type in
the search bar “convert x inches to cm” where x in your value.
How to find bra size:

find the table that has your B measurement;

look in that table only;

find in the row with the C measurement the column that has your C value;

look at that column only;

at the row with “Bra pattern size” – that is your bra size for my pattern.
Let’s see an example: I have measured my body just like in the measurement page and I have these
values: B72 and C34.
I’m looking for the table that has my B 72 (under bust) measurement. It’s the third table. Now I look in that
table only for the column with my C 34 measurement (wire size). It’s the third column. Looking at that column
only, but a row under, it states that for B72 and C32 I have the bra pattern size (EU) 70C/ (UK) 32C/ (US) 32C.
This is the size I’m going to search for in the available pattern files.
HOW TO TAKE BODY MEASUREMENTS FOR BRA PATTERN SIZE
To choose a size for my bra patterns you have to measure the way I present it here. If you do not follow these
rules, the resulted bra may not fit.
Tools needed for measuring: 1 measuring tape and 2 bra under-wires. Bra underwires in various
sizes can be taken from old bras or bought from various sewing shops. If you have neither
possibility, you can use e flexi curve or even a flexible wire that keeps the shape.

After taking measurements there will be two values – one having letter B, the
other letter C. Note both values!
Measuring for B value
Measure the girth under the bust, exactly under the breast root:
UNDERBUST
For example my B measurement is 72 cm
SUB-BUST
Measuring for C value
This one is a bit trickier. We have to find the perfect wire for our breast root. Raise your arm – this
way you’ll identify the breast root easier. Try different size wires directly on your body. Use a regular
wire. See here how the wire should lie against your body:
MEASURING WIRE
The wire must encircle the breast tissue. The wire must not lay on the breast
or be larger than the breast circumference. It must sit at the root of your
breast.

Print the file (set printer settings to “scale 100%” or “actual size“). An example for printing files at
actual size is here.
Every page in this file has a square with segment values. Check with your ruler that they match on
your printed page:
If they are not right, you’ll have to reprint and adjust printer scale settings.
Having the right files and your good wire it’s time to match your wire against the wires in the file.
Use files with “Regular Length Underwires” only.
Take the value from the wire that matches and note it with C. In this example
my C measurement is 34.
