What to put where?
Residual Waste
All waste that can not be avoided or recycled has to be
disposed in the waste bin (grey or blue top), if it is not
too voluminous to be put in there. It is not allowed to
dispose the waste in any other way.
Not to be put into the bulk refuse are the following
items:
Construction waste, excavated material, items from
household clearances, demolition wood and demolition
debris (e.g. toilets, garden fences, windows, doors
etc,). You have to dispose this waste yourself. It can
be taken to the waste and recycle plant in GangeltHahnbusch. Opening times: Monday to Friday
7.00 am – 5.00 pm, Saturday 8.00 am – 1.00 pm,
phone: 02454/6133.
For safety reasons mirrors and sheets of glass cannot
be put into the bulk refuse. You can hand in these
items at the Recyclinghof in Niederheid, but you must
present one of the bulk refuse postcards enclosed in
this booklet.
Small items in boxes or sacks do not belong to the bulk
refuse, they can be disposed of in the waste bin.
Waste wood is collected at the same time, but has to
be kept separately.
Bulk refuse is collected on demand. Please fill in the
enclosed bulk refuse postcards and post them approximately four weeks before the collection date. Two bulk
refuse collections per year are free of charge.
Additionally you can request a collection date online.
Please use the following internet address:
www.geilenkirchen.de/rathaus/abfallkalender/sperrgutanmeldung
An e-mail confirming the collection date will be sent to
you afterwards.
Biological Waste
All organic kitchen and garden scraps that are not
composted at home are to be disposed in the biological waste bin (brown top). Scraps of meat and fish as
well as all types of waste that cannot be composted,
especially plastic bags, do not belong into the biological waste bin. Due to the warm weather in the summer,
the biological waste bin is emptied once a week
throughout the months of June, July and August.
Alternatively you can also take your refuse to the Recyclinghof in Niederheid or to the waste and recycle
plant in Gangelt-Hahnbusch. Please present some
form of identification.
Opening times of the Recyclinghof, Ottostr. 13,
52511 Geilenkirchen, Tel. 02451/4820525:
Monday to Friday: 8.00 am – 5.30 pm
Saturday: 8.00 am – 1.00 pm

bulk refuse.
You can take large electric appliances (washingmachine, refridgerator, cooker etc.) to the Recyclinghof

not be collected with the wastepaper. They are to
be disposed in the waste bin. You can receive a

Dear citizens,
in the past it happened more and more frequent, that the costless yellow bags were
used for all kinds of purposes. That let to the fact, that throughout the years
continuously increasing amounts of yellow bags had to be provided, nevertheless
bottlenecks occurred. We would like to verify, that you always have enough yellow
bags available to collect and separate the lightweight packagings. Therefore this
pick-up card is handed out as a voucher for one roll. We keep further vouchers for
you. Against exposition of all 4 pick-up cards you will at first receive 64 bags for the
whole year; this amount is usually sufficient for standard households.
Tips
Exchange the vouchers just when necessary, if possible quarterly.
Use the yellow bags just for lightweight packagings bearing the green
point (Grüner Punkt); if you have questions how to separate, give us a
call, phone 0800 8884373.
Use small bags for interim storage of rubbish, they can be dropped into
the rubbish bin together with the rubbish.
The yellow bag can be filled up to the top because the tie-rod closes the
bag without having a frill necessary.
Most of the lightweight packagings are compressible by hand so less
place is given away to hollow space.
