Generation No. 1
HP1. Henry Payne. Henry was born in September 1849 in Kentucky. He married Charlott
Berry, who was born around 1856 in Jessamine Co., KY All of their children were also born in
Kentucky, though the census data is a bit confused where information on the children is
concerned. The 1880 census189 lists a son named Charlie born a few months away from Lutie.
However, Charlie's entry was crossed out by the census taker, and appears to have been a
mistake. In the 1900 census190, the family name is given as Dyne, though it is clearly the same
family. Lutie is listed as having been born in the same year as Emmit. Either her age is
mistaken, or there were two Luties in the family. One named for a previous daughter who had
died.
