ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST ADHERE TO ALL THESE RULES
IMPORTANT NOTE: MUFFLERS ARE MANDATORY AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
THE RIVERHEAD MODIFIED CRATE DIVISION WILL FOLLOW ALL RULES
FOUND IN THE 2016 NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR RULEBOOK
EXCEPTING THE FOLLOWING RULES
1. LICENSE:
a. All drivers must take out a NASCAR license. Anyone competing without a current license will be suspended
for an indefinite period, and is subject to a fine.
b. Riverhead Raceway and/or NASCAR reserve the right to approve or reject any or all license applications. A
license can be used only by the member to whom it was issued and any other member who allows any other person
to use, or attempt to use their license will be subject to disciplinary action.
2. INSURANCE:
a. Any driver competing in this division must sign in at the back gate and obtain a "Pit Pass" for the current night
of racing. Pit Pass insurance is mandatory at each event and must be purchased at the pit entrance. ANYONE
FOUND IN THE PIT AREA WITHOUT THE PROPER PIT PASS WILL BE FINED, AND THE CAR TO
WHICH HE OR SHE IS ATTACHED WILL BE SET DOWN AT THE DISCRETION OF THE
OFFICIALS.
3. GENERAL INFORMATION:
a. The promoter or race director has the right to reject the entry of any car or driver.
b. Drinking of any intoxicating beverages on the racing premises, or prior to entering the pits is strictly forbidden
until all racing events have been completed. Anyone caught doing so is subject to suspension.
c. No driver, owner or mechanic shall participate in fights in motor pits or race premises at any time. At all race
meets the driver assumes full responsibility for actions of their pit crew in every aspect.
d. The track and/or division inspectors reserve the right to subject any car to an inspection. Failure to submit to
an inspection will result in an immediate disqualification and loss of monies and all points for the night. The car
will not be permitted to compete again until after an inspection has been conducted. It will be up to the official in
charge to confiscate any unsafe equipment.
e. Anyone caught rough riding will be suspended at the discretion of the official in charge or subject to a fine.
f. No driver may get out of their race car or cross the race track while the race is in progress unless there is an
unusual circumstance, such as fire.
g. Anyone caught tampering with someone else's car will be suspended indefinitely.
4. COMPETING MODELS:
a. Approved model bodies per the NWMT Rulebook.
5. BODIES:
a. All body panels, excepting hood, must be made of aluminum or magnetic steel per NWMT Rulebook.
6. WINDSHIELD:
a. Windshield must be NASCAR flat type and material per NWMT Rulebook.
7. INTERIOR/FIREWALL SHEET METAL:
a. Interior and Firewall must be magnetic steel per NWMT Rulebook.

8. IDENTIFICATION AND MARKINGS:
a. All numbers are assigned by the raceway office.
b. One or two digit numbers only. No letters permitted.
c. Officially issued numbers must be at least 18 inches high and neatly painted on both sides of the car on the
center of the door. The number must also be painted on the front, rear, and roof of the car.
d. Car make must be painted on the roof directly over the front windshield.
e. The driver's name must be painted on the car roof over the door on the right side.
f. The engine size and weight must be painted on the hood.
g. A four-inch number must be painted on the right upper corner of the windshield.
h. Silver or gold foil decals are not permitted.
9. WEIGHT:
a. All cars must weigh a minimum of 2,630 lbs with driver and race gear after race. (No fluids may be added)
b. Maximum left side weight is 56%.
c. Added weight must be of solid steel or solid lead, no less than 5 lbs. All weight must be painted white with the
car number in black. All weight must be securely bolted to the frame rail only.
10. ENGINE:
a. GM 602 Crate Engine will be used with a Holley 650cfm, Part# 0-82651 carburetor and any 1" aluminum
(only) spacer.
1. Riverhead Raceway requires the use of sealed GM 602 crate engine in the Riverhead Modified Crate
Division (RMC). It is mandatory that ALL crate engines be purchased and sealed by Riverhead Raceway. All
engines must remain as delivered by General Motors including: harmonic balancer, distributor, valve
covers, springs, rocker arms, seals, etc. It is Strictly forbidden to tamper with the factory and/or RMC seals
in order to gain access to the internal workings of the engine. Anyone caught tampering with the factory and/or
RMC seals shall immediately have their engine confiscated by Riverhead Raceway, fined $1,000 and be stripped of
all points accumulated up until the time of infraction. These crate engines are considered to be non-rebuildable and
non-repairable. In the event that an engine sustains internal damage or wear that requires removal of one or more
seals, the engine is then said to have served it's life and must be discarded and a new one obtained! Any sale of a
crate engine has to take place with a Riverhead Raceway Tech Official present.
11. CARBURETOR:
a. Stock Holley 650cfm, Part# 0-82651 is the only legal carburetor.
12. BODY OF CARBURETOR:
a. No polishing, grinding or drilling of holes permitted.
13. CHOKE HORN:
a. Choke horn may be removed.
14. BOOSTERS:
a. Boosters may not be changed.
b. Size and shape of booster must not be altered.
c. Booster height must remain standard.
15. VENTURI:
a. Venturi area must not be altered in any way.
b. Casting ring must remain completely visible and may not be removed.
16. BASE PLATE:
a. Base plate must not be altered in size or shape.
b. No holes may be drilled in the base plate.

17. BUTTERFLIES:
a. Stock butterflies must not be thinned or tapered.
b. Idle holes may be drilled in the butterflies.
c. Screw ends may be cut even with the shaft but the screw heads must remain standard.
18. THROTTLE SHAFT:
a. The throttle shaft must remain standard and must not be thinned, cut, or nicked in any manner.
19. CARBURETOR SPACER/GASKET:
a. The carburetor spacer must be a maximum of one inch thick.
b. Any aluminum spacer is allowed.
b. No sandwich type or insulator type gaskets permitted. The maximum gasket thickness shall be .065
20. IGNITION SYSTEM:
a. Stock ignition systems only, that is supplied with the 602 Crate.
b. Engine must retain stock firing order.
c. No traction control permitted.
d. An MSD # 8727 CT or # 8728 External RPM limiter with a 6000-RPM chip is mandatory. The violet wire
must be cut back flush to the units housing. The green and the white wires must run directly to the coil negative.
The MSD # 8727 CT or the # 8728 must be mounted on the engine side of the firewall in plane view. RMC
Officials may require the replacement of the 6000-RPM chip with an RMC supplied chip at any time during an
event. RPM limiters must be fully functional and operational at all times.
21. ENGINE OIL:
a. Any type of combustion enhancing oils or additives are strictly prohibited. Oil filter must be mounted in the
stock location. No remote oil filters or oil cooler.
22. BATTERY:
a. Battery must weight a minimum of 17 lbs.
b. Gel or Glass Mat type 12 volt battery mandatory.
23. WATERPUMP/ALTERNATOR:
a. Any serpentine, cog or v-belt pulley system allowed.
24. EXHAUST SYSTEM:
a. The following part numbers are the only headers permitted. All headers must remain unaltered and exactly
match the SMS factory sample headers.
1. Troyer Chassis – Kooks # SMS1033 or Flowrite #SMS 25
2. Raceworks Chassis – Kooks # SMS1033 or Flowrite #SMS 45
3. Chassis Dynamics Chassis – Kooks # SMS1435 or Flowrite #SM S35
4. SPAFCO Chassis – Flowrite #SMS 55
b. Flowrite muffler #FR300 must be used.
25. CLUTCH/FLYWHEEL:
a. Stock OEM dimension steel flywheel for engineonly. No aftermarket flywheels permitted. No aluminum
flywheels permitted.
b. OEM type steel pressure plate and steel disc only
1. Solid type disc only, no paddle or button type discs.
2. Minimum diameter 10" clutch and pressure plate.
3. Drilling or lightening of any part not permitted. Flat surface maching allowed only on the face of the
flywheel and any cutting on the backside of the flywheel is not permitted.

4. Steel bolts only.
c. The following weights are the minimum for each part:
1. Flywheel only, no bolts - 14.5 lbs
2. Pressure plate, cover and solid disc - 16 lbs
3. Steel solid disc, no bolts, must weight a minimum of 2.5 lbs and a maximum of 3.8 lbs after the combined
weight has been determined.
26. BELLHOUSING:
a. Only a commercially manufactured magnetic steel bell housing may be used.
1. Bell housing must enclose the flywheel 360 degrees with a minimum 3/16" magnetic steel.
2. Any modifications to the bell housing must be done with 3/16" magnetic steel (no bolt on pieces).
3. An opening no larger than 3½" by 4" may be used for throw out bearing acces but must be covered by
sheet metal.
4. Commercially manufactured bell housings like Quarter Master #008110440, with a bolt on bottom cover
may be used.
27. TRANSMISSION:
a. Only OEM production 3 or 4 speed transmissions allowed. No top loaders. Gear ratio must be stock OEM
production.
b. Only stock OEM factory housings allowed.
c. Only OEM type, steel, angle cut forward gears are allowed. Ssquare cut gears are not allowed.
d. Removal of first gear or replacement of first gear with a metal spacer, in a 4 speed transmission is allowed.
All other forward and reverse gears must be in working order and they must be operational from the inside of the
drivers compartment. All transmission gears must have a constant engagement of the input shaft with gear and
countershaft with cluster gears.
e. Five speed transmissions with gears removed are not allowed.
f. Quick change transmissions are not allowed.
g. Automatic or semi-automatic transmission are not allowed.
h. Maching or lightening of any internal rotating or non-rotating part(s) including gears, shaft, etc. not allowed.
28. WHEELS:
a. Eight (8) inch or ten (10) inch rims permitted. All four (4) rims must be the same width on car.
b. Steel wheels only.
c. Track width shall be 84" maximum.
d. Wheelbase is 107".
29. TIRES:
a. Riverhead Raceway approved 8” tire! For the first race of the season, RMC drivers will be allowed a
maximum of eight (8) tires in their inventory. For each completed event attended, a RMC driver will be issued one
(1) tire credit for use at any future event as follows: Taking the green flag in the feature will allow a driver to
receive one tire credit. These tire credits may be accumulated and used at any future race event. The amount of
extra tires allowed for longer distance feature events will be determined by Riverhead Raceway Officials.
30. REAR END:
a. A standard weight/manufactured 10" quick-change.
b. A straight rear end may be used - add 50lbs.
c. Ultra-light or lightweight rear ends or components are not permitted.
d. Driveshaft must be magnetic steel.
31. COIL OVER SHOCKS:
a. FRONT: Pro Shocks #TA55½B -ONLY
b. REAR: Pro Shocks #TA74½B -ONLY

32. BRAKE COMPONENTS:
a. Only single stage master cylinders are allowed.
b. Brake calipers with a maximum of 4 pistons are allowed.
c. Each brake caliper's pistons must all be of equal size
d. Each brake caliper may not exceed a racer net price of $265.
33. FUEL CELL:
a. Must meet NASCAR NWMT Specifications. It is highly recommended that the fuel cell bladder be no more
than 6 years old.

NO VIDEO CAMERAS, CELL PHONES, DATA ACQUISITION DEVICES ALLOWED IN CAR
* Loss or dislodging of muffler during feature event – black flagged immediately and not scored from
that point.
* Loss or dislodging of muffler during heat race – black flagged, time permitting, repair and replace
muffler, then must see tech official to validate said repair before competing.
* Loss or dislodging of muffler during time trials – no time, and must see official after repair.
RIVERHEAD MODIFIED CRATES ARE REQUIRED
TO CARRY OPERATING TRANSPONDERS AT ALL EVENTS.
