Introduction
• Energy Centre, was inaugurated on
12th July 1997 by His Excellency the
then President of India Shri Shankar
Dayal Sharma. Maulana Azad College
of Technology was chosen as the Nodal
Centre for Energy Theme under
Indo-UK RECs project in 1994.

In 2004, Department of Energy was
created and has been offering postgraduate
programs
in Energy
Engineering since then. In 2007 it
became the pioneer in India to start
under-graduate program in Energy
Engineering, with an intake of 40
students.

 5KW Solar PV Panel has been installed in Energy
Department on 14th December 2012.
 All the lightings of conference hall are now powered through
solar panel.
 One fan and one tube light in each room, each lab and
corridor is powered by 5 KW solar panel.

Achievements of the Department
• Energy Centre is recognized by Ministry for New and Renewable Energy Govt.
of India for Performance testing of Small Hydro Power Plants in Central India in
collaboration with AHEC, IIT Roorkee.
• Empanelled with MPUVN for Energy Auditing Activities in Madhya Pradesh
• MANIT is the pioneer in starting B.Tech Program in Energy among all NIT’s.
• Nodal centre to conduct 1000 teacher training program under NATIONAL
SOLAR MISSION in collaboration with NCPRE, IIT, Bombay.
• 29 Students have been placed in various industries out of
first batch of 35
students in year 2011.
• National Solar Science Fellowship for M.Tech & Ph.D .
• ONGC Fellowship for M.Tech Energy student.
• One time grant in aid of 50 lakhs is sanctioned by MNRE to strengthen Energy
Department.
• Young Scientist Award for Prof K.Sudhakar,MPCOST,during Feb 2012.
