Proficient in the applications of molecular marker technology to applied plant breeding:

I have skill and knowledge in the use of PCR markers for linkage analysis and detection of genetic variation. My experience covers mapping of molecular markers, QTL, association mapping and disequilibrium, DNA fragment cloning and sequencing, data mining, and PCR primer design applications in plant breeding. I have compiled an impressive amount of training and expertise in plant genetics and mapping molecular markers to identify economically important QTL associated with biotic and abiotic stress traits in many different crops. Association and linkage disequilibrium mapping were applied to identify economically important quantitative trait loci associated with biotic and abiotic stress traits. My experience covered all aspects of marker assisted selection

(MAS) breeding programs, in particular in the fields of experimental design and implementation of the projects aiming at the detection of the marker trait associations (QTL detection in controlled crosses, linkage disequilibrium mapping projects, genomic selection), support in the selection of the best individuals and crosses, integration of the results of various studies, overall MAS application strategy, etc. My publications showed that applied molecular and quantitative genetics became united with my conventional plant breeding experience for economic traits in many different plant species under biotic and abiotic stress.

Proficiency with database applications, MS Office, experimental design, and statistics:

I am a proficient with database applications, use of office software, experimental design, and statistics. I have experience with many different software packages for data analysis (SAS, R, JMP,

SPSS), genome mapping (Mapmaker, Joinmap), QTL identification (QTLCartographer, MapQTL,

Page  2  of  13

QGene), association mapping and linkage disequilibrium (STRUCTURE, TASSEL), Genome wide selection (Ridge, BLUP, Bayesian), DNA sequence as well as population genetics and genetic diversity (Arlequin, Genepop). My experience covers the application of DNA analyzers and the related software for PCR detection such as GeneMapper.
