Seasons Greetings Green Impacters!

We’ve got a Christmas present for you all…we are the biggest

Green Impact organisation in the UK! We are close to having 70 teams signed - the largest number in any of the 46 organisations currently involved.

We are also working with Manchester City

Council the only Local Authority taking part in the national pilot to integrate green practices in their main office. This truly makes

Green Impact at MMU really special this year. We can’t wait to see what all of you guys are going to do next year with many ideas for creating positive change already coming in our greening adventures are well under way.

Let’s make a sustainable planet!

Green Impact Christmas Cheer

Last week a little Christmas present should have turned up in the post for your team, thanking you for getting involved in Green

Impact this year. We really hope that you’ll get plenty of good use out of the bottle and take advantage of all the offers for the items pictured above. For more info click here .

If you haven’t received your bottle please email Laura and Rob so they can send your gift out to you.

Christmas Switch Off

Turning off office equipment over the Christmas period could save UK business £70 million in costs and slash over 450 thousand tonnes of carbon.

It’s such a terrible waste that could undo so much of the wonderful work that you’ve been doing to improve our carbon footprint. With the combined power of all of our Green Impact Teams we can stop it.

Before you leave your office this Christmas please remember to Stop & Switch it all Off!

Make Green Impact your New Years

Resolution

There’s no better time than the beginning of the

New Year to start a new project like Green Impact.

We want to see everybody signed up to the online workbook early in 2012 so that you’ll have two months to complete you Green Impact mission.

Don’t forget that your Green

Impact Coordinators Rob and

Laura are here to support you.

If you need a little advice, some inspiration or a natter over a cup of tea, we are only a phone call or an away. So make sure that you get in touch.

A Very Merry Eco-Christmas

Laura and Rob have been looking into top tips for ways to let you keep making a Green

Impact over the festive season. Take a look below at some of our findings:

1.

Recycle your Christmas Tree – At the moment we only recycle 10% Christmas

Trees in the UK. Madness.

1.

Recycle your wrapping paper - It is estimated that as much as 83 square km of wrapping paper, enough to cover

Gurnsey! Make sure none of it gets wasted.

2.

Take a reusable plastic bag with you when you go shopping - We used 333 million extra plastic bags last year. Let’s not add to it over Christmas.

3.

Buy eco-friendly presents for your family and friends – There’s loads of places to buy eco-gifts. Check out this .

4.

Buy an organic turkey – Of the 10 million turkeys eaten every Christmas 90

% come from closed houses providers.

5.

Only keep the Christmas tree lights on when your using them

- 100-string Christmas tree lights left on for

10 hours a day over the

12 days of Christmas

produce enough carbon dioxide to inflate 60 balloons!
