2010, the DLC has administered the
Qualified Products List (QPL), a leading
resource that distinguishes quality,

commercial sector. Today, the QPL

incentives across the United States and
Canada while informing manufacturer

Linear Fluorescent Fixture Retrofit at Howard Industries Facility

With a total retrofit cost of
$57,248 combined with $56,000
in energy savings, the estimated
payback for the total project is
12.25 months.
Previous Lighting
Howard Industries recently
retrofitted one of its manufacturing
facilities from HID fixtures to Linear
Fluorescent highbay fixtures.
This retrofit is estimated to save
the company $56,000 per year
in energy costs. The project was
completed in two phases.
Manufacturing area lighting was upgraded
• Total retrofit cost was $57,248.
• Expected savings is $56,000 per year.
• Payback period is estimated at 12.25 months.
Electrical energy usage:
• Metal halide = 100 MWHrs/month
• Fluorescent = 37 MWHrs/month
• Energy savings = 63 MWHrs/month
Light level measurements of building:
• Old: 12 to 20 foot-candles (average 16)
• New: 28 to 43 foot-candles (average 32)

New Lighting
The City of Fairhope, Alabama has
recently upgraded their pier lighting
from 250 W metal halide to 144W
LED. If you look at the side by side
lighting comparisons, you will see
the LED significantly brightens the
pier.
Using a basic energy cost
comparison, the energy savings are
about 46% per year, plus the light
output is significantly better. Better
light output equals better safety.
Greater energy savings equals
greater cost savings.

Large LED Retrofit Job at Major Military Facility

A recent job replaced 150 watt High Pressure Sodium
wallpack fixtures with 20 watt LED wallpack fixtures. The
annual savings per fixture is 86%! These LED fixtures provide
better light output, extended lamp life (up to 100K hours), and
extended fixture life.
The same job also replaced 14 watt Compact Fluorescent
wallpacks with 10 watt LED wallpacks. The benefit was to
extend fixture life that the LEDs offer (compared to the
10K hours of the compact fluorescent lamps). The annual
savings per fixture is 45%!

LED Vaporproof Highbay used in recent Large Scale Bakery
Our VHL2 Vaporproof Highbay was recently
installed in a large scale bakery. This fixture uses
up to 672 LEDs at 195 watts. The 672 LED unit
is DLC and LightingFacts listed. This fixture can
potentially save up to 143 watts using between
50% and 80% more light compared to linear
fluorescent fixtures.
