This document provides information on the QA Systems Services Offering to convert existing IBM Rational Test Real Time Scripts into Cantata Test Scripts. 1
Introduction
This document is dedicated to IBM Rational Test RealTime (aka RTRT) users who are interested in migrating their RTRT test scripts (aka PTUs) into Cantata. The most common technical reasons that motivate organisations to migrate from IBM’s legacy RTRT tool to a more modern unit and integration test framework are: 1) RTRT has no independent certification for industrial safety standards: 
IEC 61508:2010 (general industrial), 
ISO 26262:2011 (automotive), 
EN 50128:2011 (railways),  IEC 60880:2006 (nuclear power)  and IEC 62304:2006 (medical devices) IBM do not supply an RTRT tool qualification kit for the Avionics DO‐178C/DO‐330 standard. 2) RTRT has no built‐in algorithm to automatically generate test cases with pre‐defined test data in order to cover all possible branches of a given code based on the selected coverage rule set (including stringent MC/DC coverage level). 3) RTRT has nothing more sophisticated than simple stubs to test software interfaces and perform software fault injection when the hardware is in the loop. (Fault Injection tests are required by ISO 26262 and IEC 61508). 4) RTRT has no integration of code coverage results as part of unit testing report success criteria. 5) The RTRT generated C test code is hard to read and modify. 6) IBM have a slow release cycle for RTRT versions. Cantata by contrast is a modern intelligent unit and integration testing tool. Scope of professional services delivery
for RTRT test scripts conversion
2.1
Prerequisites
a) Being an IBM Rational Test Real Time (RTRT) user with an active license, a functional run‐time environment and a set of working RTRT scripts (aka PTUs). b) Having filled out the Cantata Target Deployment Form prior to the engagement (supplied by QA Systems prior to the start of the engagement). c) Having signed the QA Systems NDA which covers this services delivery. d) Providing an engineer familiar with the RTRT solution and its use within the company, as well as a functional run‐time environment (target hardware + host computer with development tools + active RTRT installation) to work with QA Systems consultants for 4 consecutive business days. 2.2
Deliveries
a) QA Systems will deliver a specific version of Cantata ‐ an Early Access release of Cantata 7.0 (compatible with the General Availability release planned for later in summer 2015), which contains an RTRT to Cantata converter feature (see below) with a Beta license valid for 1 month. © Copyright QA Systems GmbH 2012

P a g e | 5 b) Free‐of‐charge Time and Material professional services engagement over 4 consecutive business days with 2 QA Systems engineers at your site, in order to: I.
Develop a Cantata Target Deployment (CTD) equivalent to the RTRT Target Deployment Port (TDP) for your target environment. II.
Apply the RTRT converter to your PTU scripts to produce functionally equivalent Cantata Test Scripts. III.
Run Cantata Test Scripts with the CTD and compare test results with former RTRT test results to check conversion adequacy. 2.3
Terms and Conditions
a) The 1 month Beta licence is provided under the terms of the QA Systems GmbH End User Licence Agreement (EULA). b) The 1 month Beta licence and on‐site professional services (2.2) are provided free‐
of‐charge. c) No express or implied commitment is made by QA Systems as to the degree of success in converting RTRT tests to Cantata. d) Any extension to the 1 month Early Access period shall is subject to an additional professional services delivery contract. © Copyright QA Systems GmbH 2012
