Using the mode „Trip class TC“ to set the time delay @ overload means always to select a time range
for overload protection.
Example: TC = 20  6s < TP ≤ 20s according to IEC 60947-4-1
A more precise way to set the tripping time is to directly edit the TP with the ETU860M.

Phase unbalance protection
If one of the 3 phases fail, a three-phase motor continues to run like a single-phase motor with an
enormous decrease of load torque. There is a high risk that the motor stops rotating.
With the feature „phase unbalance protection“ the 3VA molded case circuit breaker trips by exceeding
the phase unbalance values for the time tunbalance.

Blocking protection
Application examples for blocking protection
• Stone crusher (stone too hard / large)
• Conveyer belt (transport goods wedged)
Motor blocking (or falling back behind breakdown torque) generates high motor
current (close to starting current). But it‘s still not as high as a short circuit
current!
Without the blocking protection feature it might take up to 30s or more
(depending on current and TP setting) until the breaker trips
 unnecessary thermal stress

• Load transmission between motor and application was lost
(belt rupture, broken chain …)
• Pump, compressor
With the accessory for idle running protection the motor can be switched off by
tripping the circuit breaker.
