Hotel Will Help Guests “Stay Well” with Unique Health and Rejuvenation Features
Cleveland – The InterContinental Suites Hotel announces a major renovation to
transform the 162-suite property into a center of wellness and tranquility. The
renovation, which begins this week, will involve all guest rooms, common areas, meeting
rooms and restaurants within the Euclid Avenue hotel. It is expected to be complete by
April 2011.
From the moment guests arrive at the new InterContinental Suites, they will be able to
experience a number of luxurious amenities, blended with the unique attributes of a
wellness hotel, at an affordable price. The hotel will feature updates to help soothe all of
the senses: soft lighting and a smooth, buttery color palate; relaxing music and
background sounds; supple, natural fabrics; fresh Mediterranean style cuisine; and
calming aromatherapy.
“Our goal is to immediately transform each and every guest that passes through the door
of the InterContinental Suites – taking them into a world of tranquility, relaxation and

Cleveland Clinic, we will cater every aspect of the hotel to support comfort, health and
overall wellness. Our vision for the new InterContinental Suites will be for each and

Warm and cozy seating areas in the lobby will provide comfortable spaces for guests to
rest, relax or gather with friends and family. The new Wi-Fi Café will provide a way for
guests to stay connected, while enjoying the ambience and a number of flavorful
refreshments.
The new InterContinental Suites hotel will feature an expanded fitness center with
cardiovascular machines and a free weight station to ensure guests’ health and fitness
while traveling. Expanded meeting facilities, unique technology upgrades and an
experienced meetings and events staff will take the stress out of planning events and
conducting business activities at the hotel.
A redesigned Mediterranean-style restaurant, lounge and bar will accentuate the
ambience of relaxation and rejuvenation at the new InterContinental Suites by offering
authentic cuisine to promote nutrition, health and comfort. Both the restaurant and the
Suites’ guest rooms will offer healthy alternatives to standard restaurant and room service
cuisine, including items that fit the Cleveland Clinic’s GO! Foods requirements for
healthy, enjoyable eating.
A gift shop/ Wellness Store in the hotel lobby will offer sundries and unique items from
the Cleveland Clinic’s new 360-5 wellness program, including personal health items, skin
care, vitamins and supplements and relaxation items.
The new InterContinental Suites will also feature new EmWave® technology – an
advanced heart-rhythm-coherence feedback system that helps individuals to reduce stress
levels, manage emotions and improve their overall health. The EmWave handheld
systems allow guests to take charge of their own personal wellness throughout their stay
at the InterContinental Suites.
For guests of the Cleveland Clinic and other Cleveland-area medical facilities, the
InterContinental Suites will provide special touches to make their stay more comfortable,
like completely accessible rooms and common areas; medicine refrigeration and storage

units; special low-sodium, low-sugar cuisine; daily rest and relaxation tips; and other
special wellness programs.
The new wellness-themed InterContinental Suites hotel will feature unique design
elements planned by Cleveland-based design firm Vocon, Inc., as well as the sleek,
modern architectural style of renowned architect Bill Blunden.

tranquility,” said Erasmus. “The design of the InterContinental Suites will be clean,
simple and serene. It will be like nothing this region has ever experienced.”
