COMMON TECHNOLOGIES

product management, security experts, strategy, and development to design innovative applications
that help you to be more productive, secure, efficient, and effective.
USER EXPERIENCE
Oracle’s focus on providing an exceptional user experience pervades the Oracle Applications Cloud.
Creating a compelling, pleasing user interface (UI) that provides only what you need, when you need it is
of the highest priority.
ENHANCED INFOLETS EXPERIENCE
You can now re-order infolets by a simple drag and drop. Additionally, you can also add new facets to
existing infolets, if not already defined. User can still delete an existing facet. Also, we have enhanced
the infolet navigation such that when you close the drill down from an infolet, you stay on the infolets
dashboard.

EXTENSIBILITY
While Oracle Applications provide robust out-of-the-box functionality, we want you to be able to run
your business your way, and configuring the user experience is easier than ever, with Oracle's modern
cloud extensibility tools.
FILMSTRIP CONFIGURATIONS
Enable or disable your Filmstrip by using two new settings provided by Oracle in the Functional Setup
Manager. The ability to configure the Filmstrip options previously was found in the Structure setup
page. You can use the profile option Springboard Strip Enabled to render the strip of icons above all
simplified pages in the environment. Additionally, use the Springboard Strip Expanded profile option to
display the strip of icons above all simplified pages as expanded or collapsed by default. Lastly, the
capability to collapse or expand the strip on any page is still available.

INTEGRATION AND EXTENSIBILITY UPDATES
The integration-related content that helps you customize, extend, and integrate with Oracle
Applications Cloud is now available in the Oracle Help Center. This content previously hosted in the
Oracle Enterprise Repository for Oracle Fusion Applications.
NEW GUIDES TO SUPPORT INTEGRATION AND EXTENSIBILITY
The following new guides are now available in the Oracle Help Center to support integration and
extensibility:

File-based data import–Review external data integration services to load data into Oracle
Fusion Applications from external sources. Access templates to structure, format, and
generate data files.
SOAP web services–Understand Simple Object Access Protocol web services to integrate
with or extend Oracle Applications Cloud.
Tables and views–Find information about table columns, primary keys, and indexes. Review
columns and queries for views.
REPORTS
You can view a listing of all available reports for a product from the Analyze and Report page for your
cloud service from the navigation pane.
ROLES
Use the security reference guides available from the Books page to review job roles, duties, privileges,
and security information for scheduled processes.

APPLICATION SECURITY CLOUD
Oracle Fusion Applications Security provides a single console in which security managers and security
administrators can review, design, and modify roles in Oracle Fusion Applications. It enables users to
visualize the relationships among roles, and to model applications-menu and task-pane entries for any
role. Users can also manage certificates and review a set of security reports.
SEGREGATION OF DUTIES MENU
Please be aware that new Segregation of Duty menu has been added to the Security Console. This menu
is non-functioning but is placed here for future use in identifying conflicts for a given role.
SIMPLIFIED REFERENCE ROLE MODEL
Take advantage of simplified role definitions in the security reference implementation. The simplified
roles reduce the complexity of role administration. Every job or abstract role that existed in Release 9
also exists in the simplified hierarchy for Release 10 and 11, and each authorizes the same privileges.
Beneath that level many roles have been consolidated.
FUNCTION AND DATA SECURITY CUSTOMIZATION REPORT
Guarantee that you are maintaining the Oracle best practice to keep delivered security artifacts
unchanged. Oracle recommends copying a delivered security model and making it your own. Oracle now
provides a functional and data security report which generates a notification when a seeded item has
been modified. This will prompt an action by your administrator to undo the changes and prevent
unintentional impacts when Oracle performs future updates to these items. Leverage this tool to easily
identify and list customizations to delivered function and data security artifacts from Oracle.
WORKLIST ACCESS
Control who can browse users in Worklist UIs. By default, external users can no longer browse users in
Worklist UIs.

FUNCTIONAL SETUP MANAGER (FSM)
Oracle Functional Setup Manager provides a new simplified UI in Release 11 that improves user
experience by streamlining the Offering setup process.
IMPROVED LANDING EXPERIENCE
The new Setup and Maintenance landing page presents your subscribed Offerings by default. However,
you still have the choice to browse all other available Offerings. In addition, all relevant documents that
will help you to plan for an Offering implementation are directly available from this page.
Task Pane has been removed from the new UI to give it a streamlined look and feel. However, the
entries previously found in the Task Pane are still easily accessible from the navigation drawer located at
the top right corner of the page.
GUIDED NAVIGATION
Navigation through setup process has been enhanced to make it more intuitive to the user. At the same
time, the new flow increased user efficiency by requiring fewer clicks to navigate through the end-toend setup process.
OFFERING CONFIGURATION
Configure page has a new look and feel as well. Offerings are presented one at a time based on user’s
selection to give the page a cleaner look. Furthermore, as you enable Offerings and Functional Areas,
your selections are saved automatically.
OFFERING AND FUNCTIONAL AREA BASED SETUP
To setup an Offering by Functional Areas is an alternative approach to using Implementation Projects. It
allows managing setup of an Offering – during initial implementation as well as for maintaining setup
over time – in a modular fashion so that you can complete setup and begin transaction in the functional
areas that are most relevant to you immediate business needs without performing setup of the entire
Offering.
In the new Setup page, the Functional Areas and the tasks necessary to set up each of them are
presented next to each other giving higher visibility to setup requirements of each Functional Area as
well as reducing the number of clicks necessary to navigate to the tasks.

OFFERING AND FUNCTIONAL AREA BASED EXPORT AND IMPORT
From the new Setup page, a simplified export and import flow now supports migration of setup data
without creating Configuration Packages. You may choose to export and import setup data of the entire
Offering or select specific Functional Areas for incremental migration.
In addition, the new flow presents a list of relevant business objects that can be used during export to
filter setup data by default and thereby, gives you better visibility to what’s available.
OFFERING CONFIGURATION MIGRATION
When exporting and importing setup data, you have a new option to migrate the Offering configuration
as well.
Use this functionality to synchronize the Functional Area and Feature selections between two instances.

CLOUD STORAGE SERVICES API
New in R11, users with the developer privilege or the service administrator privilege can add and
manage Oracle Social Network cloud storage services using the REST API.
Oracle Social Network integrations with cloud document stores let users collaborate on cloud files as
easily as on files that originate from the desktop. Oracle Social Network integrates with Google Drive,

Dropbox, WebDAV, Oracle Documents, and Microsoft OneDrive out-of-the-box. In addition we provide
an SDK that you can use to create additional conferencing services.
CONFERENCING SERVICES API
New in R11, users with the developer privilege or the service administrator privilege can add and
manage Oracle Social Network conferencing services using the REST API.
A conferencing service lets users run on-demand meetings across many locations. Oracle Social Network
integrations with conferencing services let users start conferences from within the client user interface.
The Cisco Web Meetings (WebEx) product is integrated into Oracle Social Network out-of-the-box. In
addition we provide an SDK that you can use to create additional conferencing services.
SOCIAL PLUG-IN EXPLORER API REFERENCE
New for R11, the Social Plug-in API URL reference documentation shows the URLs that correspond to
OSN views, giving developers access to a wide range of Social Plug-in functionality.
