Applications
HID/AREA: NECC/CEC ORDINARY LOCATION HIGH BAY
• For illumination of mills (pulp and paper), manufacturing, storage
and other areas where corrosion, moisture or dust present
severe problems.
• CSA approved weatherproof (Encl. 3) with open reflector and
dust-tight (Encl. 3 and 5) with enclosing lens.
• Will operate safely in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to
+65 °C (-40 °F to +149 °F) ambient.
Features
• Corrosion resistant. All external surfaces of the ballast housing
are coated with a heavy-duty epoxy-finish providing
durability and resistant to both alkali and acidic atmospheric
conditions. To suit specific atmospheric requirements,
consult the factory for a suitable finish.
• High efficiency reflectors (up to 76% with 1000 W MH lamps)
and exceptionally long HID lamp life make Super-Baymaster
luminaires unusually economical to own and operate.
• The Baymaster reflector is a unique design that combines high
efficiency with low glare in a compact size.
• Super-Baymaster luminaires are furnished with open reflectors.
For enclosed reflectors, clear or prismatic glass are available.
• Pre-wired with high temperature fixture wire, these integral
ballasted luminaires are supplied with dual-tap primary for 120
or 240 Volt lines or with 208, 277 or 347 Volt primary. Ballasts
are highest quality, Class H insulated, CWA and CWI types,
thermally isolated for cooler operating and
long life. Grounding wire provided.
• To protect the internal components of the luminaire from
corrosive atmospheres all mating surfaces are gasketed.
• Mogul base socket with spring loaded center contact and heavy
gauge, screw shell with double lamp grips to prevent lamps
from loosening due to vibration.
• Installation is quick and easy:
(1) lift ballast assembly onto the hanger hub and rotate 60° until
sealed on hub
(2) tighten locking nut (hand tight) to secure ballast assembly
(3) make supply connections (90° wire) and replace wiring cover
(4) snap reflector in place
(5) install lamp

Options
• Quartz auxiliary: units are available with a pre-wired sensor
circuit for automatically lighting a quartz auxiliary lamp when
power dip or lamp failure extinguishes the main HID lamp.
• Fuse kits: for grounded systems.
• Lenses: clear or prismatic glass with heavy-duty, stainless steel
clips to secure lens to reflector.
• HPS units available with a pulse eliminator which effectively
shuts down the ballast assembly when lamp fails.
• Optional finishes may be ordered to suit specific environments
in regular or specific colors.

Quick Estimate Illumination Charts 
How to use Quick-Estimate Illumination Chart
1. Refer to “Quick-Estimate Illumination Chart” for the lamp type and wattage to be used.
2. Determine “room size” of area to be lighted. “Small Room” is 232.2 m2 (2500 ft2) or less. “Medium Room” is 232.2 m2 (2500 ft2) thru
929.0 m2 (10,000 ft2). A “Large Room” is 929.0 m2 (10,000 ft2) or more.
3. Find level of light (footcandles) required in vertical column of figures at left of chart. Then follow horizontal line (real or interpolated)
to right until it intersects with “Arc” of selected “room size.” Come directly down from point of intersection to horizontal line of number
“Square Feet Per Luminaire.” The resulting number (real or interpolated) is the “number of square feet” one Appleton Baymaster will
illuminate to the selected average maintained footcandle level when mounted in conjunction with other units in the high bay installation.
4. Divide number of total square feet in project by “number of square feet per luminaire” to get number of units required.
5. Take square root of resulting “number of square feet per luminaire” number to determine spacing between units.
